Our Story
Tirbach Alpacas is based on our family smallholding near to the Brechfa Forest. We have a herd of 25 Suri and Huacaya Alpacas.
Our passion for alpacas started before we moved to Carmarthenshire in 2016, as we had been regular visitors at a local alpaca farm and fallen in love with them. Starting with just 6 alpacas (all of which we still have), our herd quickly grew through a combination of purchasing for high quality fleece, and also breeding. To date we have had 12 cria (baby alpaca).
As a family we love their friendly, calming, and inquisitive nature. Research shows that spending time with alpacas can also lower the heart rate, reduce blood pressure, and improve wellbeing.
Alpaca Products
Our alpaca fleece is processed and the products made locally at Curlew Weavers, a small independent Mill in Ceredigion.
Alpaca Fleece is incredibly soft and luxurious. It is known for being hypoallergenic, anti bacterial and moisture wicking, water, odour & fire resistant, and biodegradable. It is second only to silk in strength and is warmer than sheep’s wool.
We have a selection of products available to buy which are all 100% alpaca, and made from the fleece of our herd of Haucaya and Suri alpacas. These can be purchased directly from us, or from one of the local shops we supply.
